The Leo club decided to raise the Leo funds by having a cupcake sale.
and it went really well!
Thank you to all those who supported us by buying the cupcakes.
(P/s, it's orangey-buttered flavoured)

Pesta Tanglung MPSJ

Hey peeps, sorry for the lack of updates lately.

Here's a new update that happened on the 10th of September.

The Leo Club of SMKSJ attended Pesta Tanglung, held in MPSJ.

Such a shame for those who missed out, as it was really fun.

We were in charge of the booth with face painting and sand art.

Tree Planting at Raja Musa Forest Reserve 23/7/11

On the 23rd of July 2011, our fun-loving Leos went for a tree planting project at the Raja Musa Forest Reserve. Below are some pictures that compiled the fun-filled and educational project. Enjoy!

Orphanage Trip 16/7/2011

On 16th July 2011, the Leo Club of SMK Subang Jaya visited an Orphanage.

Leo I.R. Day 2011 , Hollywood Hall of Fame.

On the 25th of June, the Leo club of SMK Subang Jaya had it's annual International Relationship day. The theme this time around was Hollywood Hall of Fame. Below are some pictures of the fun moments that happened , as well as pictures of those that attended the event . Enjoy!

We oh-so-hardworking Leos of SMKSJ decided to freshen up the school hall with a cleaning session after school on a Friday. Windows were cleaned, floors were swept, tiles were mopped, a job well done Leos!!

Hey Leos! As the year slowly comes to an end i just like to thank everyone single Leo for your support in all our projects and events. It really means alot to us that you participate as much as you can and to see you guys enjoying yourselves makes all the hard work worth while. There won't be much meetings from now on but we'll keep you updated.

Plus, I would like to wish everyone GOOD LUCK!!!! Especially the form 3 students who are taking their PMR examinations this Thursday. And also to all the other forms for your final exams and the form 5s for their trials.

Hopefully we can end this year with a bang. We have a few projects lined up after you guys are done with the exams and really hope you can clear your busy after-school schedules to participate. OH! And we officially have a Facebook account AND a Fan Page. Go check it out if you have the time. It would really be easier to keep in touch with all of you and it loads of fun!

Hey SJ Leos! Just like to wish all of you guys happy holidays and Selamat Hari Raya!

And if you've noticed something different about our school hall when you get back, its because we Leos were hard at work to paste new badminton lines on the floor. We had fun doing it and hope this would benefit our school's badminton club in some small way.

Hey guys, sorry about the lack of activity these last few months due to various events. But we are proud to say we have kicked off our brand new Fiscal Year 2011/2012!!!!!

Our Leo Installation was held on Friday(24 July) at 5 Setia and we have loads of new members joining the SMKSJ Leo Club. It was also the event to install the new BOD for this fiscal year. Thank you to the previous BOD for setting the benchmark really high for us and we hope we can do even better this time around. I'm sure you guys know that this entire week from the 22/03 to the 28/03 is our Environmental Week . During this week , our leo club carried out a few projects to help promote awareness our precious Mother Earth.

PMR Workshop
Prior to the PMRs, the Kancil Tuision Centre was invited to give a informative talk on certain PMR subjects.

Visit to PAWS Selangor
Leos were also given a chance to volunteer and help out at the PAWS Selangor. We were asked to clean the animal houses and the animals themselves, besides getting the chance of taking them out for a stroll.

Walkathon '09 - Walk For A Greener Tomorrow

The Leo Club of Monash University will be having a walkathon, aimed to raise funds for adopting trees! Details are as follows:

Theme: Walk for a Greener Tomorrow

Date: 4th October 2009 (Sunday)

Time: 7 am to 12 pm

Venue: Monash University Bandar Sunway

This event targets students and staffs from colleges and universities. Besides that, it is also opens to general public within the age limit of 16-50. Students are allowed to bring along family members and friends to participate in this event.
All participants are entitled to a lucky draw and receive a certificate of participation.
A booth will be set up before the event for T-shirt distributing.
RM 15.00 for each participant.
Application deadline: 27^th September 2009
All payments must be paid before the application deadline.
With registration, each participant will receive a custom-designed T-shirt.

The event kicked off with the meeting called to order by the OC, our beloved incoming President, Leo Elizabeth Chong Yie-Chuen, followed by the Leo Pledge as well as 3 roars for the club.

Next, our Lion Advisor, Lion Dato' Neo Say Yeow, gave a brief speech, and reminded us of our past loss of confidence. Yet, he is confident we will continue to push on past all that, back to mainstream.

The event continued with the speech by the incoming President, Leo Elizabeth Chong, followed an inspirational speech by the outgoing President, Leo Tony Moey, who advised the younger Leos to always work hard for the things they want.

The highlight of the event came as it was time for the induction of the new Leos and the incoming Board of Directors of 09/10. Next, it was the presentation of certificates to the fellow Leos. Incase you have no idea what I am talking about, read on...

As of this year, the school has acknowledge the contribution and service of Leos to the school. Our beloved En Quek, (Penolong Kanan Kokurikulum) has agreed to giving certificates to certain Leos to show the school's appreciation for the Leos tireless and enthusiastic service to the school. Today the school has given out 43 certificates of appreciation to hardworking Leos.

Before the event ended, we took a time to show our appreciation to Lion Dato' Neo's presence with a small souvenir presented by our teacher advisor.

Hey Leos,

Here's a little update on a recent activity!

Date : 14th August 2009

Venue : Dewan Sri, SMK Subang Jaya

Event : Talk on Orang-Utan and Saving Them

Time : 7.45-8.40 am (1st and 2nd period)

The Leo Club of SMKSJ cooperated with a team of students, one of them our very own Environmental and Health Director, Leo John Chia, in successfully holding a very informative talk about Orang-Utans.

Invited were speakers from Wild Out Experiences, or better known as W-O-X Sdn Bhd , one of the inspiring NGOs in Malaysia, doing their part in helping species that are in the brink of extinction (orang utans).

Hey Leos !

I know we haven't been updating as it's been a hectic week with the exams ! But this Friday is our Leo Installation !

Venue : 4 Setia . ( If your wondering where is this class , it's on the same floor and row as the school office , just keep walking all the way to the end )

Time : 1pm to 2pm ( It won't take too long , I know you guys would want to study and so on)

Once Upon a Crane

HEY GUYS . (:

The student’s of the Taylor’s Business Studies Club & Centre Stage Production is organizing a play titled “Wish Upon A Crane” on 14^th & 15^th August 2009 at 7.30pm. Ticket is RM 20 per person.

Synopsis:

Wish Upon a Crane is based on the Japanese legend of paper cranes and tells the true story of Sadako Sasaki, a 12-year-old girl who lived in Hiroshima, Japan. Born on 7 January 1943, Sadako was only two when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima.

The bomb took away many lives, including that of Sadako’s grandmother. Sadako survived the bombing unscathed and grew up as a normal, healthy girl… or so we thought. For 10 years after the bombing, Sadako was diagnosed with leukemia. A gifted athlete, Sadako wished for nothing more than to get well and be able to run again. Yet, her illness rendered her permanently hospitalized.

One day, Kenji, her best friend, visited her in the hospital. He presented her with a gift of paper cranes and reminded her of the legend, that if a thousand cranes were folded, your wish would be granted.

An inspired Sadako immediately took on the task of folding a thousand paper cranes, praying with every crane she folded that she would get well soon. It was a race against time, as Sadako’s health was deteriorating rapidly.

Will Sadako be able to fold a thousand cranes in time?

As an eventful General Meeting was held today ( 17 July 2009 ), the Outgoing Board of directors led by Leo Tony Moey handed over their posts to the in-coming Board of Directors of fiscal year 2009/2010. The members were introduced to their new leaders as well as some wise words of advice from the Outgoing Board.

Purpose of Leo Clubs...
To promote service activities among the youth of the community and develop the individual qualities of LEADERSHIP, EXPERIENCE and OPPORTUNITY.

Objective of Leo Clubs
To provide the youth of the world an opportunity for development and contribution individually and collectively, as responsible members of the local, national and international community.

To stimulate among its members acceptance of high ethical standards.

To develop leadership.

To provide experience through service to the community.

To provide an opportunity to promote international understandings.

What is Leo?
Leos are comprised of young men and women, ages 12 to 28, who are dedicated to make a difference in their community. Sponsored by a Lions Club, each Leo Club elects its own officers, schedules its own meetings, and selects its own fundraisers and service projects.

Popular local service initiatives include: drug abuse prevention, educational assistance, community improvement, social service, environment protection, citizenship promotion and health education.

The international scope of Leo Club allow members to experience and enjoy meeting others from different cultures through activities such as Club Twinning, Lions Youth Exchange Program and International Youth Camp.

And the social aspect of the clubs provide young people with the opportunity to meet others who share common interests, values and goals.
